Goldstein Law is experienced with handling real property tax assessments and appeals. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) is responsible for assessing property tax on more than five million properties in Ontario in accordance with the Assessment Act. Municipalities determine the municipal tax rates and collect property taxes to pay for municipal services. Education tax rates are set by the provincial government.
MPAC assesses and classifies all properties in Ontario. A Property Assessment Notice is issued to every property owner and every four years, the province conducts an Assessment Update. The next update is slated for 2020. The assessed values and property classification provided by MPAC is used to calculate your property taxes.
If you disagree with your MPAC Property Assessment Notice, you may file a request for reconsideration o appeal the property tax decision to the Assessment Review Board (ARB) – this is where Goldstein Law’s expertise can assist. Goldstein Law will ensure that your appeal is filed on time and with the correct process.
